{Do It YOURSELF.....Cheveron Kitchen table}

I know how the cheveron print is in {I LOVE IT} I bought this table and 6 chairs for $20...great deal right?! Well I have been currently using this table for my sewing table. I love love love it because I can use both sides. One for my machines and the other for crafting. So if you are a crafter look on Craigs list for a kitchen table and DIY!!!

Here is the picture of the table before I painted it. (Pic's aren't professional I took them with my phone :P) Got some basic white and scraped it really quick all around to give it a shabby look
 Got some Blue painting tap and made a CHEVERON zigzag strip and started to paint!!
 Did it on both sides...and WHALA! Finished. Super easy and a fun table to use.
ALSO....you can also outline the chevron strips with color. I was wanting to use black but it wont match my decor :( Oh well. Ill leave that for someone else.
Hope I inspired you..I love blogging fun DIY easy things to do. Comment if you like and I can get some more projects together to help you make your home look fabulos :)

Wow...I am really bad at writing blogs, I figured out I am not much of a writer lol. I wanted to give you all an update on La' MoNique. The shop will be open this week Thursday-Saturday 11:00-2pm and then closed until the end of August. Summer festivities are here my family and I will be gone most of August. I plan to move the shop all around, and I am moving my work shop into there as well.
The shop will still be open to the public while I am there working. This will allow La' MoNique to make more inventory and update our website with more quantities. Venturing out and participating in websites that will bring La' MoNique more exposure. Super excited!!
My time for having little toddlers and staying home has been paid (squeal). My girls will be starting school full time next month Yea! More time for momma, means more time for sewing. Super excited about moving my sewing studio to the shop.
When the boutique re-opens there will be all new inventory and have a new look. Soo excited!! Thankful for all our wonderful customers that have followed La' MoNique through the years. (6 to be exact)

SOooo saying all that the shop needs to be cleaned out if inventory! There will be a SALE SALE SALE this weekend Friday & Sat 11-2pm. All dresses & Hair accessories need to go! Come by tomorrow and check out all the SALE items.

Looking forward to this new venture and see you soon!!

Pant's to Skirts

I wanted to share a short and easy way to change pant's into a skirt. Remember I am no professional seamstress so I like to take short cuts when I can to make it easier and less time consuming.

{The size pants you should get is the size you are in and a wide pant leg. Or if you think it would be better to get a size bigger you would be safe doing that as well}
 Here we go!
1.First Take a cool pair of Jeans from Abercrombie to...ahem $6.00 pants at ross
2. Chop off the Legs evenly
 3. Cut the inner leg (much better than using the seam ripper!)
4. Cut all the way around Lookin good!
 5. Take the pant leg (london is trying to help me)
6. Cut the side of the seam to make it open

 7. Dont forget to cut to the top of the crotch area so it can fold over
 Like this!!
 8. Stuff the open pant leg under the open area
 9. Then cut the leg to make it even as the skirt part and PIN
10. Then start to SEW!! I like to do a straight stitch.
Tip: I sew the skirt one time around then when im all done I go back in and re-inforce the skirt
we don't want no split bootie accidents!
11. Then go inside and cut the access jean
 12. Wahlla there is your front part!! Then do the same thing on the back side
 13. Don't forget to cut to the top of the bootie so it can cross over like on the front part
 Like this!!!
 Do the same as the front then start to SEW!!!
 There you have it a awesome Jean skirt

LAST STEP DON'T FORGET: Sew a straight stitch all around the bottom of the hem to hold to bottom of the skirt together. When you wash the skirt will fray and have a cool look. HAVE FUN!!
